too muc hMagnesium?

I have been taking magnesium for anxiety/bipolar (mainly depression) for about to weeks. I usally take about 500mg to 1000mg a day. It seemed to work brillantly and really quickly. I noticed I had no heart palpitations for about a week. Now this could of course of been placebo. Because now (2 weeks later) I feel a bit cruddy and anxious. I was just wondering if I have been taking too much magnesium thus causing an adverse reaction or a deficancy in another mineral/vitamin, as I have read somewhere that this can happen with other supplements. I was thinking perhaps calcium as they are linked in some way. I have also noticed I am a bit lethargic and not full of energy like before. I usally play football (soccer) on Saturdays but this saturday I could hardly manage a half, and felt so drained afterwards. I was just wondering if you guys have any input (similar experiences), or am I just imagining things. I am also taking fish oil which I started before magnesium and this has defiantly helped.

I get slow and fatigued from like 800 mg magnesium per day. Maybe the same is true for you.

I take 500mg before bed.
it's good for my heart, muscles, and helps me relax.
the next morning it helps hydrate the color so I am never constipated.
I like it.

It always reasonable to reduce or eliminate a supp if there's any concern that it's causing adverse effects. What's most important isn't what you'll think it'll do, based on information obtained from others, but what it does do, when it's in your body.

I hope that since you posted, you've cut the dose, and have seen a diminution of this adverse effect.
