Hey all,
I had my first panic attack in a long time yesterday. I think my recently titrated Lamictal might have destabilized me... Not a good experience.
I have some Xanax, which ends up being useful in these situations. But, I'm wondering if there any supplements that provide palliative and/or preventative relief from panic anxiety. Please let me know when you have the chance.
Thanks,

Niacinamide has been working well for me. Read the two threads on the board here now.k

hello cache-monkey
I still experience anxiety that leads to panic attacks but since taking Tyrosine they don't seem to escalate into full blown attacks.

"Niacinamide has been working well for me. Read the two threads on the board here now. "
Thanks, Kara. I went ahead and perused the threads, bought some niacinamide and popped a 250 mg. I'm not sure it did anything. Maybe it reduced my anxiety a little bit (which was already down from full-blown panic), and it might have made me a bit tired, which I think you noted as a side effect.
A couple of questions: Have you figured out a way to counter the tiredness? Also, is niacinamide something that's better as PRN for anxiety, or are the effects cumulative and preventative?
Thanks,

Interesting. Tyrosine (along with Tryptphan) is something I've been meaning to start trying out.

>It helped me a little right away but the better effects were cumulative. I make sure to have a steady supply in my blood stream. I used to take it 3 or 4 times a day but now only twice a day. You have to experiment to find the right dosage for yourself. The grogginess is minimal after a few days of steady use but I find that I'm much more relaxed and not getting any panic attacks. I don't know how long this will last but for now it works well.
Good luck and let me know in a few days how it's working for you.

I like using Salmon Oil at a dose of about 1,000 mgs of EPA. I feel it helps with anxiety matters overall and panic issues. It basically "helps my brain work better". If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. Fish oil, in general, is great for our hearts, too. As long as you have no coagulation problems and aren't on anticoag meds or high dose aspirin, you might want to give it a try.I also use low dose Klonopin right now.
In addition, I use taurine and am just beginning niacinamide along with no flush niacin. I'm trying that out and see how things go for me.
Good luck
