Begin supplements at the same time or staggered?

Posted by OJ on December 14, 2004, at 21:01:56

Hey guys, sorry for all the recent posts. The last thing I want to do is hog the board, especially as a newbie.

Just a qucik question though... should I begin taking a Seratonin supplement like 5-htp or Tryptophan at the same time I begin taking a GABA supplement like Theanine or Niacinamide? Or is it better to stagger the starts? Of course, I'd love to get the most immediate help/relief I can and I've read from Dr. Amens website that people with temporal lobe issues (me) should stabilze the temporal lobes first before taking St Johns Wort (and possibly all Seratonin/Cingulate Gyrus calming supplements) so maybe I've just answered my own question!

Anyway, if anyone has any advice or experience with this I'd really appreciate your input. Thanks so much and take care!

Others with more experience in this area will likely provide you with better direction and advice. In the meantime, however, I have heard that it is to your advantage to staggering the starts simply so you can be better aware of your reaction to the supplement, its benefits and any side effects. If you start two or three at the same time, it will be hard to tell from which you are receiving benefit or from which you are experiencing any adverse effects.

Good luck to you.
