Hi all,
I recently went to a massage therapist who also does cranio-sacral, Reiki, and other types of energy work. She recommended vinegar baths to me to help stimulate energy flow. Anyone have any experience or knowledge of this? From what I've read so far, it is supposed to either bring energy to your system, or just serve as an anti-septic soak. Thanks in advance,
gg

I've never heard of it, but do you know what kind of vingegar she's talking about? Household white vinegar? Apple cider vinegar?
Just curious.

If she is recommending a vinegar bath, I'd take her remarks with a big pinch of salt as whe obviously has a big chip on her shoulder ;-)

hi gg,
vinegar is weak acetic acid, and acid does have the ability to break down other substances (like contaminants.) Acids (in dilute solutions) are the prime components in many common cleaning products.I haven't heard of vinegar baths being scientifically proven to be beneficial for cleansing human skin more effectively than other methods, although that doesn't mean that they AREN'T. Vingegar is a good cleanser in general. I suppose that vinegar might remove 'gunk' or 'junk' without leaving soapy films or residues...???
I DO know that my ob/gyn doesn't think douching is a good idea under normal circs b/c it breaks down useful bacteria and changes body pH (sorry to anyone if that is too much info!) Since vinegar is used in many douche solutions, I'd think about the nature of the vinegar bath and whether it's the right thing for your body.
I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who has tried it and has feedback! I personally find vingar to be a great carpet spot cleanser for pet messes...very interesting to hear that it might be good for people too.

GG,
I do know people with chemical sensitivies use vinegar for cleaning windows instead of windex say.
So I guess it would be good at removing a layer of grease but usually our skin doesn't need to have the moisture stripped, unless I guess if you have problematic super greasy skin?Apple cider vinegar seems to work for clearing out blocked milk ducts too when its swallowed, not sure how, but seems like it must be good at dissolving somehow??

I guess the idea is based the acidity of vinegar as well as its cleaning properties
NO idea really

She definitely was thinking of this as an energy thing versus a cleaning thing. She didn't mention cleaning or skin at all. So, if you believe in the idea of energy creation/exchange/system, however you might think of it...that is what I think she was getting at.
Interesting about physical properties, though. Maybe being cleaner allows energy to flow more freely??? :)

Thanks for your input. I was concerned that I wouldn't sleep well after, but I did. I also felt refreshed. (and no nasty smell...it was too dilute, Lar!)
