> joebobThat's a tough one, actually. I get hungry from taurine. The only other things I know that work are marijuana (the munchies are not a myth....activation of the CB1 cannabinoid receptor makes you hungry), Remeron (ya, I know, an otherwise sucky med), and Zyprexa (a super sucky med), if you were taking either one just to gain weight.

Hi Joebob,
I've had problems gaining weight for several years, but seem to be able keep my weight stable now.
If you're interested found a few articles....
Zinc and anorexia....

also found my hunger went after sex! so thought low endorphins or low testosterone might be involved...also, inflammation seems to be implicated - info about cachexia is interesting to look at, lef.org is a good site.
In my own case I think it was inflammation, low insulin, low stomach acid, low enzymes, poor absorption and malnutrition from the above. Boosting my endorphins seems to help with my post sex lack of appetite too!

well until recently it was plain chocolate and excercise, but have found DLPA works really well too as it apparently inhibits the enzyme that breaks down endorphins. I needed a couple of B vitamins before it'd work for me though.

this morning i had terrible indigestion. i read something about fennel on the web, ground some fennel seeds and made tea with it. within a few hours, i had a big appetite. apparently fennel stimulates digestion.
also, boldo and other herbs: "In conjunction with other herbs, such as cascara, rhubarb, and gentian, boldo has been reported to improve appetite."
This is the end of the thread.
