Has anyone benefited substantially from the use of 5-ht....?? How effective are they in comparison to ssri's??

I found that if I took 50mg of 5-htp I would feel just as good/better than on regualr dose SSRI, but the feeling would peak at 20 minautes and then be gone an hour later.
IF they invented a slow release 5-htp, they might be on to something.
