St. John's Wort compared to SSRIs

Posted by KaraS on August 13, 2004, at 15:26:56

Does SJW also produce that emotional leveling or flat effect like the SSRIs can after being on it a few months?

I'm coming to the conclusing that the SSRI's are only good as an ajunctive therapy along with other things that stimulate dopamine and/or NE. I'm wondering if SJW is the same way or if it is has enough of these other effects to prevent the SSRI emotional flatness.

Anyone here been on both of these long enough to comment?

I have never had emotional flatness from SJW, but I have had that from SSRIs. That's all I can say. SJW is without doubt the best antidepressant I ever used.

BTW, what brand or brands of SJW did you used to take when you had the great response?

A Canadian brand, Swiss Herbal. Could have been a fluke batch, for all I know. I just never had the same response from that brand, or any other.
