Quercetin is a powerful protein kinase C inhibitor (similar to lithium and valproate)
i believe it to have powerful antimanic activities.I have emailed dr. andrew stoll (of harvard university - the guy who wrote the omega 3 connection) in hopes that he might study this compound and find the same things that I have.
Please buy some and give it a try - around 1 gram

about 1000mg or a gram is potently antimanic.

Linkadge,
Have you stuck with quercetin? How much is it helping? It'd be cool to know before I blow some more cash on a supplement that will just sit in my top drawer until its expiration date...
..sigh.. I wish I could get off my ass and find a real pdoc since I moved, but I'm not convinced my problems are real enough, and a nice GP gave me a script for a year of fluoxetine...so things aren't as bad as they were.
When I was on Depakote, my head was so much clearer (though eventually it squashed my personality so flat I had to quit). I'd love to try lithium again. It did wonders during my first (treated) depression in a combo with Zoloft.
Anyway. Hope you catch this post.
Best,
-pm

This stuff is the altimate downer. It will calm you down and put an end to any degree of mania (in my oppinion) It does not seem to be an antidepressant though. Sometimes celexa makes me a little manic. If I take 500-1000mg of quercetin it calms me right down.
