How to self-test supplements?

Posted by taylor18 on January 9, 2004, at 5:20:48

What is a good way to self-test supplements?

How many days should I take a supplement exclusively before dropping it or keeping it?

Let me give an example: I take X amount of supplement X for X days.

How many days is a good test?

After the test is over, if I like the effects, do I keep taking it while I begin a new supplement test, or drop it and take the new supplement exclusively?

Larry, if you've had experience with this, my e-mail is peace4tx@yahoo.com, I know you're banned.

Also, you need to check to see if taking certain things at the same time keeps your body from absorbing it properly.

And check the ingrediants to see if it has yellow dye number 5 or some other super evil ingrediate that causes some people serious problems. Also, some things have soy in them, which some are allergic to. When you order vitamins and supplements, they usually don't list the ingrediants they are made from.

So when you self test supplements to see what works for you, remember that as a factor.

Your really asking alot here..The broad metabolic pathways in the human system react differently to all nutrients depending on many variables..If I told you to take vitamin c to prevent colds and by doing so you became sick, would you assume vit c failed your self-test?..Well how about vitamin c's primary function of manufacturing collagen?..Could that be determined? If you were showing symptoms of scurvy you could. You'd have to be much more specific if you wanted to really determine a supplements beneficial effects to you personally..ie; "What am I trying to achieve?"

Always read up and be careful.

Dr. Patricia Kane says, "Never go any direction at 100 miles per hour", when changing your diet. Dr. Nicolas Perricone from PBS and the book the "The Perricone Perscription", says much the same thing, only is more elaborate.

10 years from now, you're only gonna be 10 years older. May seem worse than that, but "peddle-to-the-metal" won't get you there any slower or faster. You'll just arrive.
