Phil,

Thanks, Phil, I have had the same thought - my mother has suffered from depression/anxiety, and so has my husband's mother, so it's possible the baby might be helped by what's helped me. Certainly would help me to cope with the stress of new motherhood.

Just a brief after thought as I have to go out now. Have you considered swapping the 5htp for tryptophan which is purported to be more effective?
Just an idea. Not tried it myself yet though, still waiting for mine to arrive int he post :-)

This is the horse source many people here have tried. I bought this because of the price, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. It's nasty tasting and difficult to mix with something.

JLx,
>>nasty tasting and difficult to mix
Curious, did you get the Tryptophane, or the Tryptophane "ultra-pure" version? They both sure are cheap.

I have no doubt that it's tryptophan in there, btw, because it made me feel just as sleepy/crappy as I felt on Zoloft. ;)

Ugh. I don't want to feel sleepy ... I already get more than enough sleep. I'm sleeping probably 14 hours a day between my regular night time sleep and naps during the day with my infant. That's the right amount of sleep for an infant, and it's certainly comforting to me, but that only lasts until I wake up and find out I slept through all of my opportunities for the day.So ... maybe Tryptophan is not the answer for me. My tiny dose of 5HTP seemed to even out my moods without causing sleepiness. I'm still looking for info on safety while nursing, though. I would think there would be some info about this in Europe, wouldn't you?
Thanks for the feedback ...

Well, after all that, it turns out my local health food store has bottles of L-Tryptophan on the shelf right alongside other supplements. It's really expensive, but it's there.
