In reply to INOSITOL for anxiety!! anyone help?, posted by clairey on December 21, 2003, at 15:59:23
Hi Clairey, I took Inositol 12mgs, with B complex
and GABA together for anxiety, and it helped
immediately. I was told that Inositol and the B complex helped with the absorption of the GABA.I don't recommend this though cause I always get told GABA DOESN"T CROSS THE BLOOD BRAIN BARRIER!
Now all I can say is It worked for me, and without the GABA the inositol didn't really have
a noticeable effect. I'd still use it, as it was the best combo for anxiety I've tried thus far,
but I live in Canada and GABA is illegal here.

I've read that when you take GABA some of it will get turned into GHB.
Maybe thats why GABA works for some people even though it doesn't cross the BBB, as GHB can cross it.

>Wow! thanks. Do you have GAD? or other things too?
Did you mean 12g as you wrote 12mg.
I have picamilon which crosses the brain barrier! i take that with a bit of food though.
Should i take a mega 50 vit B complex and the inositol? what do you take?
should i try niacinamide too?
also when do you take it all? together or apart? and how long have you been taking it all?
thanks alot hope u dont mind all the questions!! he he.

Thanks!
If thats true, it makes a lot of sense, because
I thought, if it was a placebo response it would have happened with something I'd tried before the GABA--- and preferably something a lot cheaper that I didn't have to import!

Hi Clairey
sorry it took so long for me to get back to youI have treatment resistant depression and
GAD, I think for me the GAD is the worst, I can handle the sadness much better than I can anxiety.
> Did you mean 12g as you wrote 12mg.
Yes I did, thanks for catching that!
It might give you a stomache ache for the first little while, but it does help depression and adds to the tranquilizing effect of GABA
Its contraindicated though if you are prone to Hypomania.
> I have picamilon which crosses the brain barrier! i take that with a bit of food though.

I take, B complex,
extra B1 50mgs 3x daily with mealsVitamin B6 50 mgs 3x daily with meals
Niacinimide 1000mg daily,
Now I know you know this, but I just want to clarify that is *NIACINIMIDE*, not *NIACIN*, Niacin can be toxic in doses that high.
Now I don't know that much about Picamilon I've never used it. I *think* its the bonding of niacin to GABA, I can't see any problem with taking Inositol along with that at all.
I don't know about the safety of Picamilon and additional Niacinimide though maybe someone else here has a better idea.
> thanks alot hope u dont mind all the questions!! he he.
No problem! I have to admit though I still
break down and take a Valium when things are bad
I still haven't found the natural equivilant to that when the anxiety is excruciating. If I do though I will let you know for sure.
