Well I laughed at what it said on the bottle..
"Grapefruit seed extract has been found to be helpful to some individuals with certain health
healh conditions" okay that clears things up..I find it excellent along with probiotics for Candida. Its also good for washing your fruits and vegetables. It tastes pretty awful though kind of like when you drink orange juice after you've just brushed your teeth.
Really though, as its pretty handy for everything from ear infections to washing vegetables I wouldn't be without it now.

<grin> You won't believe this but I was asking on behalf on my Dad, who is keen to try it on his pigeons after reading all the wonderful stuff it reportedly does... The pigeons get lots of supps.
He wanted my opinion, but it looked a bit well your sentence above sums it up...
So wondered if anyone had actually tried it with any success and what they had used it for.

I've often found it nips a cold in the bud. My guess from the meager info on the label is that the active compond is slightly modified in the extraction process and is what chemists call a "quaternary ammonium compound", which are often very powerful bacteriostatics and destroy germ cells partly by dissolving their membranes - maybe similar effetct on viruses.
Anyway, my eclectic MD, who practises the best of traditional AND complementary medicine, has been recommending it for years.
Just don't chew the tablets!
