Hey people, I was prescribed Xanax about a month a half ago. I'm getting tapered off, and withdrawing. I did become dependent on it and my doc wants me off. I have began taking low-dose shots of vodka at specific times throught the day when needed, to substitute. It works very well, is equal or better for anxiety than Xanax for me. I completely stoped taking it, and replaced it with my new plan. Is safe to continue? thanks for any feedback

Despite the fact this works for you, now... Do YOU really think it's a good plan? Self medicating with alcohol is a coping plan many have used.
Personally, I don't think using alcohol for anxiety is safe.
I'm not trying to be judgemental, however, I don't know anybody who has been able to maintain alcohol as a way to "cope" without having serious issues physically, emotionally and on a functional level.
I suggest you try to look into something that could be a long term treatment for you.
Prehaps a talk with your doctor is in order.
Good Luck,
Kelly
