I don't really like eating, considering it a waste of time. I also believe I would be much healthier if I fed entirely through an IV.
People who use an IV for long periods of time have no health problems that I am aware of. Anyone knowing any facts proving otherwise, please post them.
Any way I could convince a doctor into giving me one, or order it offline someplace on my own? Could they mail the liquid to me through a mail order?
Anyone with information about this please post. And remember, just because most people enjoy eating, doesn't mean we all do. There is no psychological reason behind it, I would just prefer not to.

Wolf Dreamer, IV nutrition is definitely not healthier! As a nurse, I can tell you you that people who require prolonged TPN frequently develop liver failure, and often overwhelming infections. Cecilia

What about people in comas for years? Are you sure the liver and other problems aren't caused by something else?
If your body just needs certain things, then instead of going through the ineffecient process of digestion, why not just get those concentrated things directly into your bloodstream? I don't understand why it wouldn't be better.

1. "We know all the nutrients you could ever need." That's just not so. It seems that every week, there is news about some new essential nutrient, or conditionally essential nutrients(e.g. to prevent heart disease).
2. "We can deliver all the nutrients you could need by IV." We know that we can't do a good job delivering the nutrients already on our (incomplete) list. We just can't mimic the complexities of things like transport proteins (transporters for water-solubles) and liposomes (transporters for fat-solubles).Sorry you're disinclined to eat....but Mother Nature has far more hidden stuff in food than we arrogant humans will probably *ever* discover/identify. Maybe you have a problem with your sense of smell/taste, making food less appealing? (if so, take zinc) Maybe you need to be exposed to good cooking? Recent reports show that culinary herbs have some of the most potent antioxidants ever seen....but good cooks already know that culinary herbs are good for you. The only difference between herbs as medicine and herbs as food is that the latter taste good!

people on comas don't have IV feeding, they have tube feeding. A tube goes directly into the stomach. IV feeding has major complications because the digestive system shuts down. The immune system gets compromised. Because of that IV feeding is a last resort for people who can't have tube feeding.
The bigger issue is that you don't want to eat. It's normal to have appetite loss with some meds, but not to have complete aversion to eating. How about discussing it with your doctor?

While most people enjoy eating, some of us never have and never will.
Some of us taste things far more intense than others. Here is an artical about that:

This one mentions the more scientific reasons for it. They have various things found in vegetables for instance, which they proved most people can not taste. Those of us who do taste it, can not stand vegetables. They extracted it somehow, gave it people, and found only those who hated vegetables with a vengence could taste it.There are other articals I've read... not bothering to look for them. I just did a quick google search and came up with those two.
---So while most of you may enjoy eating, I and others like me never have, and never will. It is just a useful chore we do when necessary, but would prefer to avoid.
Anyone know of a healthy all liquid diet I could live off of, with no sugar or anything in it, which doesn't taste unbelievably horrible?

Maybe a nutritionist could help. Have you tried health food stores for protein drinks and so forth? They have things with less sugar than the typical drinks like Ensure.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be presumptuous about your choices. I wish you'd have mentioned this sooner.
