Chill *ss Questions about Good and Evil

Weren't we having a delightful convo about good and evil just before I was dismissed for admitting that the willingness of the deputies to carry out Bob's nastiness was despicable? I started reading this long haired guys book while I was free from Babble. It's interesting. I watched the introductory lecture on youtube and found the captions quite amusing. Babblers would probably find the Coursera boards quite dull though, not much exclamatory action.

You posted it so in my opinion only you are responsible. Who else would be? Phillipa

I read that book but it wasn't really my cup of tea. I guess I prefer them trailing clouds of glory:) I kept thinking of Hans the Horse frankly.

why is it these people so often assign their own publications as primary reading? is it possible they're using coursera to beef up sales of otherwise unprofitable academic books? Some of these courses are quite large-- I hear--

It;s one thing if the prof is a noble-prize-winning economist-- but is Bloom saying that there are not better books in the field than his own? Is this legit? or does it somehow smack of a conflict of interest?

I agree. Some of the classes have 20 or 30 thousand students. Of course the book isn't mandatory but that is a lot of publicity. And this course seems built around the book which was released a few months ago. And it's not a very good book.
