hmm. i guess it is a big ask. I've known about the 3 beers thing for ages... But then the Merry thing freaked me out. It would be seriously bizarre if the world were full of these... Though I thought it might be for a minute there.

So, uh, does the digestive system adjust to beans or not quite??

Hmm. No 'bare' for one of the bears? I did not know that. Two women..one from oz and one from NZ in my church and I never noticed that in particular. Maybe I should corner one and DeMand they say:

"I was just drinkin' some beer, bare naked in the forest as always, absolutely unable to bear the boredom any longer, when along came a bloody big bear!!""

lol. worth asking just to see their faces (i know one would say '10der, are you being mental again?'

she knows me.... ;-)

Apparently 'bare' is specific to my particular region of NZ. Might be worth a try, though :)

it is weird, though, isn't it, that i'm not so much into 'verbal things'. like... 'verbal comprehension' in the US sense. or such activities as 'spelling bee'.

it was more about being immersed in a world, for me. i didn't watch much tv as a kid (wasn't allowed to). so i... read a lot of books. famous five. secret seven. nancy drew (didn't much like). hardy boys (didn't much like, neither). wishing chair. five findouters and dog. jill... stuff about horses... mellody towers... the library, of course. and we had a book exchange.

i remember taking out the max number of books i was allowed to as a young person (I think like, 23). 'teen fiction'. then... being done with them within a week. wouldn't take me more than 2 hours to read a 'teen fiction' book...

i remember the librarian saying to limit my reading or i'd run out of books to read. this was when i'd read up all the teen fiction and i was onto the adult. stephen king. dean koontz. took some trouble to find adult fiction suitable for.. a 10 or 11 year old...

the librarian was closed minded of course... had no idea. no f*ck*ng idea.

bitch.

i remember being absolutely terrified. in mortal terror. that i'd read up all teh books there was and there would be nothing left.

"calling b for butterflief"

i remember...

there were series of books...

something about pistachio nuts... by an author that was a favorite of mine at the time...

i even remember sweet valley high... the babbysitters club... the 'perfect person american agenda'... is how i thought of them, even then... i don't know what to say...

and there was this one about a building... a huge ecosystem of a building... and people had never been outside. and there were many levels of the building. and there were parks and stuff..

anyway... a guy and a girl found their way out... i can't remember what it is called... but i have a sense of it. and i'd like to read it again, but i can't remember what it was...

i found some other stuff a little bit later. triffids. etc. stuff my father remembered fondly from school. journey to the center of the earth...

later... color... something about colour vision. and kinds of people. kinds of people who can see different colours.

this kind of stuff... captures my imagination and... horrifies me immensely. i don't know what to say.

i don't read much anymore. textbooks have ruined me for fiction. i don't know what to say. i miss it... but... finding things compelling.

audrey something "her perfect symmetry"

Are you from New Zealand? For some reason, I have always assumed or thought you were Canadian. Not sure why...

Seems innocuous enough, but the mary/merry/murray thing is one of my earliest memories of learning to not trust teachers. I was a Pennsylvania transplant to southern Virginia schools. During a lesson (third grade, I think) about homonyms (referred to as homophones now), I told the teacher that I didn't think mary and merry were homonyms, and given the speech differences between the two regions, I would be correct about Pennsylvania. The teacher, being too stupid to realize simple facts, dismissed me as being wrong. One of a gazillion incidents in my so-called education.

How'd you know!? ;)

Now that I know you're not Canadian, my whole perception of you is changing. I could imagine you pretty well in a huge country with lots of snow and all that. But instead it's probably warm and sunny right now where you're at, right? So confusing...

yes. warm and sunny. summer.

i've always thought of you as being from england, in particular. now i suppose you are going to tell me you are welsh, or something?

Hmmm, I was gonna respond by saying something typically British, but I can't think of anything... but I'm German actually.

What made you think I was English? I mean did you conclude it from something in particular, or was it just your head assuming it for some reason, like me thinking you were Canadian?

Haha, that's funny.

For some reason, I also imagine you with red hair. But not the ginger type of red, more like a really dark red. Not sure if there is anything to that imagination?
