I have noticed that some posts have disappeared from a thread I started called "Alcohol and benzo cross tolerance" in Medication.
A long post I made this morning is gone. So are some posts from GirlPower that someone replied to (their reply is still there, but no GirlPower posts are). And I got an email notification of a followup post to one of mine, which now gives an error when I click on the notification link. E.g.
"Error: Couldn't find post 1038488
Couldn't find post 1038488, sorry! Please go "back" and try again.""Error: Couldn't find post 1038517
Couldn't find post 1038517, sorry! Please go "back" and try again."Anybody know what's going on? These posts show up if you search the site, but the "cached" version is just the above error. They do not show up in the list of posts on the main page.
My post was fairly long, it pains me to think it was lost somehow.

GirlPower was someone who was blocked and trying to get around being blocked by posting as someone else.
In general, it's my policy not to delete posts, but this is an exception. You could think of it as a retroactive block.
When I do delete posts, I usually delete replies to them as well, because not doing so could lead to confusion.

I'm sorry about your post. Sometimes there's collateral damage.

OK thanks for clearing that up.
Losing a post is a small price to pay for getting rid of an abusive poster.
As the saying goes, Voltaire would never have defended free speech to the death if he had seen the Internet.

Sadly, folks who get their jollies by being abusive on this site, and others, exists. Happily, they're fairly easy to spot trying to get around being blocked because, as soon as they're blocked a new poster appears and repeats the abusive behavior. And gets blocked again. Rinse. Repeat. The best way we Babblers can help dampen the blow of what shots they do get in, is to look out for each other. Check posts, and if we find one that is abusive, step in and offer reassurance and support to the victim. No need to engage the abuser, that's what they want. Some people can dust an abusive comment off with no problem, others can't. We are, basically, a support group, and while abusive comments can't be completely eliminated, we can make sure the abused gets enough support that he or she can dust it off.

Wasn't abusive just the same old person assuming a new posting name and overriding to system to post. Claims Dr Bob could block is computer and dosen't from this site. Are special priviledges allowed to some and not others? When you see a name that is new and is about a benzo, alchohol, or zoloft think same person with new name. Phillipa
