I don't understand how a fairly popular board like the Writing Board is discontinued when the 2000 Board hasn't had a post all year, and yet it remains.

I think it is because the 2000 board is a "closed" board to all but those Babble members who joined during 2000 or before.
I don't believe there is any other reason. (And I, for one, really miss the Writing board. The Social board doesn't seem like the correct place for such intimacies as were shared on that board.)Perhaps we could persuade Bob to reopen it?

Hi PC. I didn't know if you wanted anonymity in my other post about Babble meetings BTW. Anyway...

That sort of is my point. Aren't the "open" boards more important to current participants?

I read that and I'm OK with it or I wouldn't still be posting here (now and then, that is).

Aren't the "open" boards more important to current participants? The Writing board served functionally as a closed board because of its name and nature, but didn't stop anyone from posting there. Now we have no choice but to utilize the Social board, which really is a catch-all. I'm not really pining for the olden days, but I did like the feeling that the Writing board was kind of like opening a dusty, treasure-filled secret that few cared to open.
Nice to see you here, Toph. You're looking good.

You look marvelous yourself PC. I also liked the free spirit of the Writing Board. Unless I'm wrong, it also seemed as if Bob gave contributers a little more free rein to express themselves in the civility department there. I claim no great talent in writing, however it felt safe for me to post something I wanted to share. I have a thing that got published recently but it just doesn't feel right to put it on the Social Board.

Man - I would love to read the piece, Toph. Congratulations! Would you consider sending it in a Babblemail to me? I sure would appreciate it :-)
