I settled on the alias of 64Bowtie because I was periodically driving my 1964 Chevy PU Truck and lovin' it (the nicknmae for Chevy products has long been 'Bowtie' based on the Chevy bowtie insignia)...
My Chevy PU turned 45 and I sold it, in a very delapidated condition... It had been in storage for about 4 years and I saw no worth in continuing the misery...
There is no quick fix for a downturn in the economy and an upturn in my personal busy-ness... I sold it for more than I paid for it 35 years ago...
I now can create a new alias, but wonder about the process... My options are open... Perhaps 64Bowtie is an icon... or not... Perhaps, not being 64 years old and not wanting to hurry the process of becoming 64 hastens my interest in changing to some other alias...
Comes down to the question, "What's in a name???"

Well....
Without visuals on the internet, a name is a way of friends knowing who you are. In real life your face and your voice can identify you, but on the internet, your screen name identifies you as no one but you, Rod.
If you change names, and tell people, those who see the name change will be able to "see" you. But those who miss the name change won't get the chance to say "Hey, 64bowtie! It's good to see Rod again. I wonder how he's doing?"
P.S. It's good to see you again, Rod. How are you doing?

I'd been thinking of 'lung transplant' for me.
I heard someone discussed and it was said of him 'Unfortunately he had a lung transplant'.
Metafunj sounded pretty good....a nice non-anglo feel.

(((Dinah))),
Yep, November 2003 was a long time ago, so most will have never heard or have forgotten my original incarnation/alias of "Dr Rod", understandably banned by Dr-Bob... My PHd didn't impress him... I'll read up on how to change aliases...
How am I doin'??? I'm putting the finishing touches on my "Coached Recovery Protocol" and staying busy with clients...
I'm caretaking my 89 yearold Dad which presents daily challenges... Being his "27th Birthday Present" and his namesake, seems to be a blessing...
He listens; he really listens... I get in trouble when I make claims about antiquities; anything older than 6,000 years violates his biblical tenants...
He agrees to disagree, though; a useful concept that appears to bridge the generation gap... His vanity emerges when he is sure that Christ is returning any day now, but for sure during his lifetime...
I bite my tongue.........

I suppose we ought to move the catching up part of this to Social. :)
But I do understand how hard it is to switch roles and be the caretakers of our parents. Even the ones we love to pieces.
On a more administrative note, I vote for your keeping this name. Fewer people post regularly on Babble than they used to. I think it'd be nice to let old friends know you're here by letting them recognize your posting name. But that's me. :)

I saw that as an option but wanted some feedback, with yours being most important... I feel onset of comfort in taking my time about shifting over to "Rod", if I do...
You don't have to ask me twice to go "Social"ising on the Social board with y'alls... You bring the towels and umbrella and I'll bring the refreshments and suntan lotion... We can make a day of it........lol...
