Hi 5f! This can happen if someone posted on a thread and then later changed their name, and posted to the same thread again. The thread subscription under the old name is activated by a post to it using their current name. HTH! :)

Also, I think if someone has posted on the same thread with a new name, and they again check the box to receive email notifications from it, they'll start getting double notices, one going to each name. So would probably want to use the "Unsubscribe" link in one of the duplicate notices.

Right!!! I forgot all about the early dates of posting there. In fact, I went back and looked at what date I actually responded to and I saw I'd responded, I believe, to one early this year. That's about afa my mind could go this day. Will check it out 2moro.

If I'd been on top of things and seen the old me above, I shouldn't have checked the box to receive email notifications from it, as I was already going to get one to the old me!
I wish to stay on the thread. Is this a prob'?
Is my prior name saved here on the site so it may not be used by another person?

Hi again, nope shouldn't be a problem to unsubscribe from one or the other, if you get double notifications from the exact same post. I'm almost positive that babble names can never be reused, and never go away either. In fact, that's why we can switch to using another of our names anytime (with proper notice on Admin of course :), since they will always still exist. Glad I could help!
