1) Is information gleamed from boards still used in research or presentations?
2) If others wish to use board information, does it require your consent?
3) If you do give consent to the above, do you always inform posters?
I was under the impression that the boards were not longer a research project, did I miss something?

Are you planning to only use volunteered input or are you planning to gather info from previous posts? If info is being gathered from previous posts, is there an opt out available if a poster requests?

Hi Glydin,
I can't speak for others, but if I contribute to the submission (not sure if I'll actually be going) I would like to use a combination of my own subjective experiences as well as those people who choose to respond to my posts on psychology and psychobabble [meds] about posting more vs. posting less.I don't intend to go back through archives, myself. I don't have enough energy.

I think that would be more clear if we didn't ask others for input for the workshop. So Llurpsie, let's not do that. In general, though, I think it's fine to discuss issues like posting more vs. less.
1) I'm not currently involved with any projects that are using information from the boards in research.
2 and 3) Usually what's required is the consent of the research subjects. But it's also true that in some cases research may not be subject to review by an IRB or an IRB may grant a waiver of consent, see, for example:
