Taking a vote!

Posted by Happyflower on April 21, 2007, at 22:30:11

Should joking about any kind of abuse regarding animals and humans be allowed on this mental health site even with triggers? Yes or No

I hope the recent controversy doesn't keep you from voting.

Am I wasting my time trying to make Babble a better place? Yes or NO

I am just curious what everyone thinks, this will help me determine if this is a site I want to be associated with.

I really don't want to add fuel to the fire here, but if you buy your meat at the supermarket (and I'm not suggesting anyone does, except me) you are contributing more to the abuse of animals than any jokes here would.

Unless I'm missing the point.

Yes, I do agree with that, after growing up in a farm community I know how our meat gets to the supermarket. It isn't humane and it isn't pretty folks.

But that isn't what this is about. Is it abuse jokes appropriate on a mental health site, (not just animals any abuse against anything with a beating heart.

controversy? my mother in law came down, now that's a controversy!

for some reason upon reading 'i'd rather not be associated with a community that.........' thsi is a mental health (what is it called? a message board?) thingie. and to think that perhaps you woudl leave this community over an off-color joke, then woudl you rather just prefer nto to associate with me? i'd understand that (hell, half the time i'd rather not associate with me.)

it's kinda hard not to take it personal when you keep bringing it up dear. if you want to keep it simple, i think you'd have plenty of reason to post a dnp to me. i'd do so. then, you could still be part of the community, you'd have nothing to do with such an offensive person and everyone would be happy. (well, i must say, i'd be a bit sad. i've never had anyone say dnp. ok, jsut once, but it was rescinded.)

but, you could be proud and be the first.

look, if it's an 'i'm sorry you were hurt' you want dear, then i'm sorry you were hurt. and not 'buts' with it.

but, my butt sure is fabulous!!!

take care hf, good luck with yoru vote and i hope you find some peace in this.

This isn't about you, it is about the issue of allowing abuse jokes on a mental health site, I have said this many times.

But I can see I do not have much support, and those that do support me are afraid to do it publically because they see what has happened to me. the rules remain the same, but I am not remaining the same, I am leaving. I hear the cheers in the background, don't worry I am not offended.

Actually I think it is a good thing for me to do profesionally, since it is so easy to identify a posters, and I have given too much info, and some may try to find out who I am . In fact I am closing this part of my life down. It is over. I am not even sad about it either. Off to the real big world of life. Some don't believe me because I have said it before, but I am going to make sure I can't come back to Babble EVER.

Don't count me among the crowd that's supposedly cheering your departure.

A former colleague of mine always said, "when you leave a room, do it with grace--even when it tries your patience." That's pretty good advice, and there's been more than one time when I've wished I had followed it.

I wish you well in the future, and I hope that your break with Babble is only temporary.

YES, but only on Social

I don't think I can answer this question... so I won't. It's only a waste of time if you think it is.

No

I didn't vote because I don't think my opinion matters to anyone who makes the rules. But I support you.

You make it a better place by being here.

But the same thing is true for the Big Wide World and you might get a better return for your time invested there.

Thanks for sharing your passion and honesty with Babble
