when a post is upsetting and someone notifies admin.. through that clicky thingy at the bottom of each post... what happens? i mean, if they agree then i guess a "please be civil" thing gets posted.. but when they don't does just nothing happen? Why isn't the person who complained sent an email saying why nothing was done?
a while ago i was terribly hurt and notified admin but never heard from anyone... why not? There was clearly a civility issue.. "not to accuse others or make them feel put down"
i was upset for days. Not receiving any communication from babble admin or whatever just made me feel as though i deserved the harmful comments.
i am over the original incident and believe the comments were not intended to cause harm.. but they did and i feel i had a right to be spoken up for by admin.
so... what happens? can you not even talk to the person who is upset? can you not address it in someway, on the board or through babblemail?

Gazo, I apologize. You're absolutely right.
I've made a suggestion to Dr. Bob about how we might keep better track of the civility requests, but I'm not sure if it's technologically feasible. He might have a countersuggestion if it's not.
I think this may be a case where having several deputies is both good and bad. Good because, for example, I was at work for long hours with no ability to post as Dinah (and still will be for a bit) but there are other deputies around to pick up the slack. Bad because we still haven't figured out a surefire way to track who has done what, and what still remains to be done. But we continue to work on it.
I don't know if this helps, as my saying anything at all on Admin rarely seems to help at all.
But what I'm really trying to say is that, especially with Dr. Bob gone so much lately, we really appreciate posters using the notification feature, and we really want to encourage that.
We just need to figure out a way to keep track better of requests and dispositions.
Unfortunately, I'm late for work already and have to pack up to go now. But I'll look for your request when I get home.

I don't think that came out as I intended.
I hope the meaning of what I was trying to say was clear, at any rate, even if the wording was less than fortunate.
argh. off to office.

Dinah this has nothing to do with you but if being a deputy is a volunteer job and you all hold jobs I feel that Bob needs to hire someone to oversee these things if he is never here. Just my take on things lately. And it's funny at about noon each Sunday the site is down or almost down. Love Phillipa
