How much longer does Alex have? When is it up?

I didn't think she was planning to return after it ends. Has that changed?

I'm not really sure, but we were all wondering when it ended, and how much longer the double time made her block and all that.

I had a really nice chat with her the other day (I didn't really 'know' her before that) and she says she's blocked pretty much for a year. Although I don't know when its up. Obviously not for quite a while! Which is quite sad.

Kind regards

Meri

Sorry A is blocked for so long.

In Alex's case the civility rules did not work well.

Her exploratory lengthy posts would eventually end up saying things deemed to be uncivil, but there were no personal attacks and when she felt she had hurt someone else's feelings she would apologise sincerely.

It's just a function of that university/philosophy/lengthy discussion thing where everything is up for consideration.

Evidently, having an opinion about something and sharing it on Babble can be a dangerous undertaking, Declan, even if you are a thoughtful, considerate and supportive person by nature.

If this is her last block she would be on parole now.

I tried to look and figger out what the hell happened a long time ago and couldn't figger it out then?
Some of Bobs blocks I just do not understand :(

Those who can muster up a devious style of communication (such as myself) can (if not prosper) survive under the civility regime.
You just don't want to be too direct and open.

I know this was a random thot and not directed at anyone but:
Is that what I do? :(
Is that why I haven't been blocked?
Blocks hurt so bad, I don't want to be blocked, but sometimes I flip a bit...
I don't want to be devious, I spent too much of my life being devious and hiding my addiction.
I know Declan that you speak sort of tongue in cheek, and I like your style, but the grain of truth....
Does anyone feel I am being devious somehow?
If so PLEASE tell me cuz I DON'T want to be, and want to stop it if I am.
Sorry if I just being an idiot.

The trouble with being other than straightforward is that people cannot be sure what you mean.
But if you say what you mean openly it may be deemed uncivil.
And then you have to give voice to various parts of yourself, which may not be congruent.
For example I hate displays (as in Declan made a display of himself).
Consequently I frequently suffer from Posters' Remorse.

But take the Politics Board. I think I might be able to say "So and so is not very nice" and remain unscathed, but that's about the limit.

So, Iwillsurvive, you just got a new posting name? I'm not familiar with your posts, but will check them out with an eye for deviousness from now on.

And it is hard with just words in posts, as you said. In social contact there are all the other cues.
But being bored, one of my needs here is to entertain myself.

There's a link up above, and from what we've worked out we're thinking sometime in June she'll be free!

There was someone (in Nov 06 I think) who posted a lot of messages while blocked and I had gotten the impression that it was alex. However I was not sure at all because all the messages got deleted. If it was her, then I assume her block was extended. For some reason, I thought her block was extended by a year (although I could be wrong).

Dr Bob, could you please clarify exactly what date alex will be allowed back to post (if she so chooses).

And just before that, there had been some discussion about revising her block length. In the below message, Dr Bob was saying it was 34 weeks.

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20061018/msgs/704778.html

It was all so confusing. It would really help a lot if Dr Bob just gave us a return date.

Sorry again about not having been around. It's up at:

I know, it's not for a long time. I'm sorry that's the way it worked out.

So when did her block start?
Seems like its been forever already.
I thot they were capped at a year??????
I'm a little confused.
I'm confused as to how the heck it got as long as it did anyways? Its not on the boards?
Sigh.
Yup.
I miss Alex too.
This whole thing just sucks.

That's right, they are.

> I'm a little confused.

I don't blame you and I can see why. Wish I could be of more help, but I'm afraid I can't without the risk of being disrespectful or insensitive. I hope you can understand that discussing admin actions toward any specific poster, whether posting as a poster or a deputy, is something that has to be carefully considered and sometimes severely limited.

>Its not on the boards?

Right.

> I miss Alex too.

Me, too.

> This whole thing just sucks.

Feeling like we've *lost* a person from our community, especially for a long time, doesn't feel good at all, I agree.

I wanted to at least acknowledge your question(s), even if I have to be completely unhelpful. Perhaps another deputy or Dr. Bob will read this thread again and be able to do better.

((iws)) for caring about others so much
((alex))...just because
