I found something on PBGoogle that I wanted to read. How do I get to it - it was in 2001.

actually that one might not help, since it might be available at the top of the current page. What if the date on a Google excerpt was really old?

The above is from the "snippet" after the title of the page? And the page is an archived main page (as opposed to a post page)? It may be confusing because all main pages have the same title...
Anyway, clicking on that title should take you to that particular main page. Then if you look around, you should be able to find that post listed, and clicking on the link to it should take you there. Even if it's really old.
