Dr. Bob ... the mystery man

Posted by Spriggy on March 26, 2005, at 12:34:18

We know he's here.. We occasionally see his post. Usually redirecting someone's post to the appropriate board.

If you are naughty, he will most definitely send you to the naughty "banned" corner.

But... really... truly.... who is this mystery man?

It's almost like a big brother thing. You know he's out there.. you know he's watching.. but he never lets us see him enough to be assured of his presence.

MUWAHAHAHAAHA

*looks around the room*

Any mystery one attributes to this man is purely one's own attribution, in my opinion. And I dare say he loves your thinking of him this way. (He certainly does nothing to discourage this mystique, and everything to further it.) In my opinion, he's transparent as glass.
I don't, however, discount the possibility that for some people this bobbly persona may be in some way therapeutic, but it seems to me that the recepient needs to do a heck of a lot of hard work to figure out how to make healthy use of this therapy.
That said, for me authenticity, honesty, and clarity---being as clear and as straightforward
as you can possibly be, being as open, simple, and egoless as you are capable of being---these are the marks of a truly therapeutic human. Leave the "mystery" and complexity to artists, who serve a different, and possibly more important, function in our lives. I think it's terribly important for people in bob's position to be clear about what role they want to play, and whose needs are being served.

Okay Henrietta,

Huh?

Say all that again but pretend like you are talking to a 3rd grader, then I will possibly grasp it.

LOL

Excellent point!! It ain't easy being clear. Or, being clear isn't as easy as it looks.
