Dr. Bob Notification of Responses New Board?

Posted by Phillipa on February 22, 2005, at 17:40:50

Dr. Bob, I don't seem to be getting notification of new Posts from the Withdrawal Board. Do you know why? Thanks, Phillipa

I've experienced the same thing. I think I know the answer, so, until Dr. Bob has a chance to reply, I will tell you what I think happens. I think that when a thread is redirected from one board to another, the posters' selection of notification of later follow-ups is lost in the transfer. So, until such time as you post again under the redirected thread, you will not receive a notification. It's a technical glitch.

That makes it hard to follow. There are so many Posts that I read, that I basically scroll the other pages. I just caught my name on a Thread or I wouldn't have known. Hope it can be fixed. Thanks, Phillipa

It does work that way, you need to post again in the redirected thread (with the "notify" box checked). Is that in fact when notifications aren't being sent?

I don't think there's a clear way to resolve this. Do posters necessarily want to stop following the original thread and to start following the new one?

I always check the box that says notify of later follow-ups. I still haven't been getting the redirected mail from that Thread. Yes, I want to continue following the Thread. It's just hard to switch back and forth from one Board to another without the Mail to get me there Dr. Bob. Fondly, Phillipa

This is the end of the thread.
