It was supposed to be a beach scene but I couldn't work out how to put the sea and bumpy sand in.

I think you did a fine job of conveying the theme in abstract. I can definitely see the suggestion of a horizon, perhaps at sunset or sunrise?

Oh no, not you too? I hate bugs. Especially ones that fly. And leave nasty shells from their larva all over my porch.
