Psychobabble's Fifth Anniversary

Posted by OddipusRex on June 19, 2003, at 11:11:10

I think a blanket amnesty should be proclaimed in honor of PB's anniversary this month. All bans lifted! Lou and everyone who wanted to could return.

At the very least I think you should address the faithful. Perhaps at an online chat or you could use the Grand Round system .

Congratulations! Did you ever think it would last this long? Are you surprised at what it evolved into?

Woo Hoo!! Happy Anniversary! (nm)

And Dr. Bob, I think Oddipus's question is a good one. Did Babble surprise you in how it's evolving?

Dr. Bob & OddipusRex,

> At the very least I think you should address the faithful. Perhaps at an online chat or you could use the Grand Round system.

Absolutely excellent idea, Rex! I vote for a video presentation using the Grand Rounds system with a link to the video file prominently displayed on all of the PB boards. And prior to the production of the video, we could post some questions in a thread on PBA to help Dr. Bob know the kinds of things we are most interested in hearing about. I think that a video address would, among other things, further advance the community-feel of pbabbleland.

What do you say, Dr. Bob. You're not camera shy, right? Can we begin posting our questions on PBA?

> Congratulations! Did you ever think it would last this long? Are you surprised at what it evolved into?

Ditto.

<Ron patiently waiting for Dr. Bob’s reply – tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc – Time's Up; Ron decides to rephrase his question into a yes-no format so as to make it easier for Dr. Bob to respond.>

I’m aware of the presentation you gave on Grand Rounds in the Winter of 2002:

Is this what you are referring to, or is there something more?

That's what I was referring to. You had something else in mind?

Dr. Bob,

> That's what I was referring to. You had something else in mind?

Yeah, what I had in mind was a Fifth Anniversary Webcast where you talk to us posters as friends as opposed to presenting the data aspects of your board. The webcast might be analogous to having dinner with you in Philadelphia (I think it was Philly) with the added advantage that many more posters could "attend".

I think it would be a hoot to hear the comments and questions from the various posters (with their respective screen names) and your interaction with us posters.

But at the same time, I realize that you have many obligations (more than I know about) and, therefore, it might be difficult for you to find the time for any such interactive webcast. And then there is the issue of expense. I suspect webcast studio time is not free.

And lastly, maybe the other posters would not be interested in this kind of thing. I just thought it might be a fun way to mark the five-year anniversary.

Thanks!

Well, the idea here has always been to connect people to each other, not to me...
