It's All Old Stuff

Posted by cubbybear on May 26, 2003, at 8:16:20

Many times when I access the main Psychobabble board I will get one that is completely out of date--with the most recent postings of perhaps 2 weeks ago. Why is this happening?

Which URL are you going to? And are you on AOL?

I feel like a fool but I don't know;I work only on public computers in about 3 different Internet cafes (I'm not in the US).

You might be viewing a page that's in the internet cache rather than the current page. Try hitting the 'Refresh' button on your browser.

Those pages aren't supposed to be cached... Another possibility is that you're getting an archive...

I have the same problem... (nm)

How are you accessing the board? What browser are you using? To see the URL in Netscape 7, do either View > Show > Navigation Toolbar or View > Page Info. And have you tried View > Reload, as Tabitha suggested?

All I can say is that I took your suggestion and when it happened again (only once since my original post), I hit the Refresh button and it got me onto the current board. That's good enough for me.

OK, but I still wish I knew what was going on...

i'm sorry about your frustration, Bob, but as I said, I use public computers here in Thailand and trying to communicate with the natives can be impossible at times. Not only that, I myself don't understand terms like cachet, URL, etc. The problem I described happens quite seldom. The only thing I can suggest is that you try accessing your own website several times from different public computers and see what happens. Wish I could be of more help.

Well, who knows, I've added:

<meta http-equiv="expires" content="-1" />

to the:

<meta http-equiv="expires" content="0" />

that's already there.

But it may just be an IE 3/4 bug?
