Dear Dr. Bob,
I realize I am still very new to this forum, however, I don't understand what is going on. In the last 10 days it seems that posters are having communication difficulties. Some posters have been blocked for defending others who are being attacked, and yet when most posters see an issue as important as rasism and have the courage to confront the unfairness, they are not being heard.
I would bet if the message in question was taken as a direct quote and a student at your university were to recite it openly in the middle of the campus, dicplinary action would have been taken.
I, too, understand he was referring to the frustrations of being bullied and abused. However, this would be the perfect forum for him to realize such remarks are no longer tolerated in the public arena. When all is said and done, although we are your test subjests, this is a public forum.
Please, for the sake of our community, give us a better understanding of your reasoning.
Thank you in advance for replying.

See what you think:

Or unreasoning, as the case may be... Most of the discussion is going on in an earlier thread here:

Thanks for your input,

I have read the post in question. In fact, I read it as it was written. However, as for the rules of conduct in your University, I can see that you and I would differ in our interpretations of that as well.
I am in total agreement that the remarks in questions were part of a vented frustration. I just believe that regardless of the context, it was still a racial slur that WAS offensive to others. In fact, the civility rule you have administered specifically prohibits posts that will make other posters feel "put down" or offended directly. That, in fact, is exactly what the post did.
My question was not asking for the understanding of the post, it was asking for your understanding of this whole issue.
Thank you in advance for considering this message.

I do think I have a better understanding now. I think I was overly influenced by the context. Thanks for your input, and patience,
Bob
