Why aren't there more new posters?

Isn't the number of new posters low for how visible this site is? Why don't they post? Do new people feel they won't be welcome? Do they feel existing posters only want to talk to those they already know? Or is the number of new posters in a given time period what's to be expected?

P.S. I'm referring to PSB not PB. (nm)
