Granted, I've not been here for a few days, but I thought I understood the archiving process. It was my understanding that once a current board reaches a certain size (I think it's 125K?) the oldest posts then float into the most recent archive ... and that the current boards can remain up to 125K or whatever in size, like the *main* PB board seems to do ...
So how come this board seems to have done a complete turnover and is now much smaller than it was just a few days ago? How come so much of it suddenly archived? I would have thought that only what exceeded the size limit would go to the archive????????????????

No, posts are archived as soon as they're posted:

When a new archive is started, the current list includes posts from the previous archive:

But the overlap is posts from the previous couple days. Which is a lot more posts at PB than here.

I can't find a FAQ for archives that explains anything substantive about them! When I click on the link you provided it brings me to the top of the list of FAQ's and the closest thing to archives is something about "why can't I find old posts" -- is this what you're trying to get me to?
If so, it doesn't say much about the archiving process, but thanks anyway -- if not, where are you trying to get me to?
This is the end of the thread.
