Dr. Bob,
I don't quite get this "blocking" procedure - I've seen a few instances where it seems to me that even after you block someone they are still posting and you are responding to them saying that they should not be posting because they're blocked. But how can they post if they are blocked? No comprendo!

Dr. Bob doesn't have something that automatically prevents them from posting. He's asking them to respect his block for that period of time. If a person persists in trying to post, they're blocked longer & then Dr. Bob will go in & delete those posts. Just like he'll delete inappropriate URLs by substituting XXXX in place of the URL in the post instead of deleting the entire message.

It's a "multiple identity" issue, see my little addition above...

Reading this thread it sounds like you CAN put a block on someone's computer based on their posting name and password ... but even if you do that (block a particular name and password), there is nothing you can do to prevent that same person from re-registering under a different name and password?

Just because it's a problem for me doesn't necessarily make it a personality disorder. :-)

You got it Bluejay. Happens all the time. It's NOT honest and it's NOT honorable but it does happen.

In reply to Dr. Bob - why don't you answer my questions?!! (nm) » Dr. Bob, posted by BlueJay Bird on April 7, 2002, at 23:47:57
No offense intended when I answered your question to Dr Bob Bluejay.
I think he doesn't bother answering questions that are already answered by other posters. He'll make corrections if the poster is inaccurate but if the answer is accurate, I'm sure he doesn't bother re-answering the question.
Those who have been around awhile already know most of the answers anyway and they try to help where they can.
Sorry if I stepped on any toes.
