Lou wants to tell you

Posted by Lou Pilder on March 10, 2002, at 22:35:43

Dr. Bob;
I want to tell you how you just hurt me with your recent post insinuating that I am "pressuring" Jay for requesting that he clarify something from his post.
Your ostensible reason is that part of the request that I was making was in a previous post. If you examine the times of the two posts, you will see that some time had elapsed. I am like all of the posters on this board. We have short-term memory lapses. How could you reprimand me because of my didability? Do you mean that if I repeat myself because of a short-term memory lapse that I will be blocked for a month? How can you be furthering the mental health of the posters with such a predudicial attitude? That is what predudice is. It is making a conclusion without serching for other possibilities. I am not trying to "pressure" Jay. I just wanted him to clarify what he said. Is that a justification for you to be so cruel to me as to conclude, falsly, that I am a "pressuerer?" I don't like what the picture is beginning to develop on this board. I believe in fair treatment for there to be good mental health on this board. I am not getting that fair treatment. You are forcing me to leave this board, or you will entrap me and expell me and say that I "pressured" people.

Dr. Bob:

Lou wasn't really "pressuring" Jay. We write lots of questions and comments in our messages, and, often, our respondants forget to answer them. A follow-up should be okay. This doesn't happen only with folks on this board; it happens with my friends, clients, and associates every day. We write lots of stuff in a message, and the person responds, forgetting to answer whether she's free for dinner. It's really no big deal.

The reason I'm writing is to try and understand what stuff isn't allowed, since I've only been posting for about two weeks. If Lou had asked a third time, I guess it might look like pressure. But isn't Jay capable of saying, "I don't want to answer that question," if it was really something he objected to?
