sorry if this is obvious but I'm just guessihg that there's no way of knowing who posts, if they choose to sign their messages w/ a misleading handle that's how it appears? That's a breeding ground for the kind of abberance we're seeing. The Di Bob person is totally out of bounds, and if it turns out to be someone who's a member of the community I'm going to get scared and unsafe and paranoid again. I trust every single person on this board, I don't mean advice-wise but in the more important realm of good intentions and fellow feeling. The Di Bob person seems dangerous, that's a terroristic threat in my book, and something one can be imprisoned for doing, at the least, anyone who can be doing this stuff doesn't care anymore, if they ever did. I vote for a screening process from now on, some sort of proof of good intentions, or at best some software that tracks the origins of each post. Does that sound technologically and economically feasible?

Does that sound technologically and economically feasible?I don't know what you mean by proof of good intentions, but Dr. Bob should have access to logs that could be used to track someone's alias via there IP (most internet users have dynamic IPs [ones that change each time a user connects to his/her internet service], but they usually don't differ all that much) and vice versa. If he doesn't log that information now, it's easy to enable. There are certainly ways around this, but it does offer some degree of security.

trouble,
I'm sure Dr.Bob is working on finding ways of tracing this person... and yes, this has something in common with terrorism: lack of respect of others. But it's relatively harmless, so let's not panick over this. It seems to me that it's someone who's unhappy with Dr.Bob's blocking and who has taken to action against all of us in retaliation. It's unfortunate and I must say it's immature of this person. But it's not directed at any of us specifically, except, perhaps, at Dr.Bob. I simply report it when I see it, and wait for things to get back to normal. There's no point for losing sleep over this. And there's still plenty of good people on this board who are worth talking to, let's not forget all of them for one disgruntled person. I hope you continue logging in, trouble, and you don't let this person destabilize you.- sid
