go away after time at AD doses?
My doc is trialing me on trazodone as an AD. I worked my way up to 300mg at night time. Seems to be working quite well, expecially for anxiety and rumination.
Problem is my memory is terrible on it. I'm struggling to find words or names when I'm writing or typing, which is a bummer because I've always been good at that.
Additionally having problems with balance.
Do these go away with time? One book I read claims it does (Stahl's Prescriber's guide), but it has been 5 weeks and it seems as bad as ever.

Of all the antidepressants I've tried, trazodone was the most sedating. It helped my sleep and my anxiety. What I didn't like about it was that it made me feel groggy. I eventually stopped taking it because this side effect didn't improve. Unlike you, it didn't affect my balance.

Hi.
I tried trazadone as soon as it became available towards the end of 1982. I hated it. It didn't help at all for depression. I didn't have anxiety, so it proved worthless therapeutically. In addition, I found trazodone to be a dirty drug. It's quite possible that your cognitive side effects are due to the mCPP metabolite of trazodone. mCPP usually precipitates anxiety, and is used as a model for anxiety in laboratory animals. As far as cognitive and memory side effects of trazodone are concerned, I don't see a robust consensus among researchers.

I ended up discontinuing traz (300mg) though due to the memory and coordination problems I was having.
