Covid-19 impacts

Has anyone who has caught the wretched virus felt that it caused a worsening of or relapse of mood issues?

Hi.

Depression and anxiety are common outcomes of COVID-19.

However, there is also the "long hauler" / "long COVID syndrome to take into consideration. I think brain fog is the most common manifestation. A recently discovered treatment for long haulers is a combination of two antivirals - nirmatrelvir-ritonavir. It has been reported that paxlovid is also effective for long COVID-19.

I would recommend comparing the "flavors" of the two conditions - your "traditional" depression versus your long COVID-19 symptoms with regard to mood, energy, and brain-fog. If you can identify a difference in how you experience your old depression versus your present condition, I think it makes sense to treat you as if you had long COVID.

Hell yes! Horrible depression that last a month or two for me (although mine was the 2020 strain). Even my brother said he was Bryan every day and had to take a break from work.
I wish they would give this symptom more acknowledgment.

I've had Covid once. My symptoms were mild, except for fatigue. For over a month after recovering from it, I ruminated a lot more than I'd been ruminating before getting it. And my motivation was a lot worse. I'd put off doing simple tasks, day after day.
