My computer warns that this site isn't secure and can be impersonating the original site. This is new and has happened all week.
I can, however, start a new thread w/o being warned.
Anyone else? (If you can reply!)

Maybe you can try posting in the administrative forum?

If you get the error (on edge),
You can click on "details" and then "go to webpage" to override.
I think it might be due to updates to the browser (not the site?). There may be a security setting you can adjust.

Your connection is not private
You attempted to reach www.dr-bob.org, but the server presented a certificate signed using a weak signature algorithm (such as SHA-1). This means that the security credentials the server presented could have been forged, and the server may not be the server you expected (you may be communicating with an attacker).
----end-quote----It has to do with the SSL certificate.

Yes the same here. I had to override my computer to post this to you. From what mine says the site has not been renewed or something like this for security. I'm afraid that to go here any longer will ruin my computer. I can no longer read messages either without overriding the security on this computer either. I think I will have to stop using the google bar here and use regular google. See if you can babblemail? Phillipa

Mine says on Thunderbird that the certificate for security has not been renewed. And Dr Bob is no longer affiliated with the site. So writing him will do nothing I'm afraid. Phillipa

The only reason I say this is because secure https sites are regulated with similar security protocols (regardless of the browser) that periodically get updated. All browsers that use these protocols must implement the latest security revisions.
I have had other sites that have not functioned properly (in the last few weeks) that apparently need to upgrade to newer protocols. My brother who works in IT said there were some recent updates to https systems for which some servers have yet to adapt.
Of course, if nobody is really monitoring this site, then this would not be occurring.

It's his home page at http://www.dr-bob.org/ and he was still answering questions about the site as of 24 Dec 2019.

The fact is that Dr. Bob doesn't even need to be a secure site. You are not entering credit card information or social security numbers etc. You are entering passwords only. Secure sites only ensure the secure transmission of the information to the server. Everybody here is posting directly to the world wide web. Anything you post has always been accessible to anybody who visits the site.
In posting a new thread, Dr. Bob does not engage the 'secure' environment. For some reason, only the reply option attempts to activate https. So new threads you make, are not (not have ever been) made in a secure environment anyway.
In viewing the certificate, it seems that it just lapsed this Monday Feb 3, 2020. Hence it does not appear that the server was hacked or anything. Even if it was, at worst, a hacker could gain access to your password. If you're concerned about that, perhaps you can change your password to something that isn't used by other sites.
Again, there's really nothing to hide here. We're all using usernames and posting our dirty laundry for anybody to see.

Have you written to Bob to ask him why his site is no longer certified if he still owns it? Maybe he didn't pay his bill for this internet site?

Linkadge said it was expired, so I suppose he has not renewed, or replaced, it.

So the bottom line is that this web page is no longer secure or what?

> So the bottom line is that this web page is no longer secure or what?
It does not really become less secure just because a certificate is expired.
It just means that someone in a key position (eg. such as working for your ISP or for the provider of dr-bob.org's web hosting) could imaginably set up a fake dr-bob.org server and steal your dr-bob.org password and e-mail address.
Hardly is anyone going to do that for real!
