anafranil is the most potent for OCD, defintely will take care of OCD symptons, it's just up to a doctor to choose to use it. It's an older antidepressant

honestly, i have 'obsessive traits,' and...
working with the psych (always a challenge) to get the tranq dose a bit lower helped, a good bit. 20mgs/Prozac helps, too. gabapentin at night...makes me kinda stupid, but gets me out of the loops.

I have severe Pure OCD and only two things out of may have helped significantly:
- 45mg BuSpar
- Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) with a great PDocHTH

Hmmm, Buspar?
How long have you taken it?
I think I might have tried it as an adjunct to my Prozac 25 years ago. They used to portray it as very mild and barely effective, if at all.
Glad it works for you!
I might have to give it try again.

That said, a few months after starting it my OCD lessened in severity significantly. I still battle with every day but less of my day is ruined by it.
I've been taking it for about 18 months I'd guess.

I saw one article related to tramadol and OCD and not much else. I wonder how many use it for this purpose and with what success.

That's probably moot since I don't think you'll find a health professional who'll prescribe an opioid for OCD! Unless you're planning to get it yourself that is.

Newly released article sounds promising regarding augmenting with Memantine.

"the findings of this meta-analysis, impressive though they are, cannot guide clinical practice. The case for memantine as an augmentation agent in OCD remains unestablished."
meaning they're not sure Memantine helps.

Glad it helped. I gather you no longer use it, though?
I don't know much about opiods except what I hear in the news. Never tried any.

> I don't know much about opiods except what I hear in the news. Never tried any.Hey, I'm one of those poor bastards who is caught in the opioid furore/hysteria. Oxycodone+Adderall is the only thing that let's me feel human, albeit for just an hour after each dose. I've never mentioned this to any of my doctors, because it would be immediately ripped away from me because I'm abusing it (using for mood, not just my chronic pain). It's fucked up.

Tramadol is also an SNRI and NMDA antagonist.
