Hmm. I'm not sure why you can't split the pills.

They may say this because it is on patent, and splitting pills (i.e. buying double the dose and cutting it in half) can save people money.

Splitting may cause the drug to release faster, but it has a fairly long half life (24 hours) so, it should last a full day whether it releases slowly or more quickly.

After the seal is broken and the tablet removed, you can put the remainder in the refrigerator.

Did you look into sarcosine?

I put sarcosine on my list of things to try after you mentioned it. I need to stabilize on Parnate first.

I did not respond to intranasal ketamine. Sarcosine's mechanisms of action include working in the opposite way of ketamine on NMDA receptors. Maybe that means that Sarcosine would be a good choice for me.

The more ideas, the better. I'm thinking of going on NAC (N-acetylcysteine). Both sarcosine and NAC treatments do not produce immediate results. A good trial of NAC can take months.

Thanks.

That sounds good Scott. What dosage are you at? What dosage did you take before you withdrew?

I had immediate results with both. NAC was pretty cool and strong for 2 days then i felt like absolute crap. Sarcosine made me better within days but i had akathisia.

There are many things to try, Scott, once you are somewhat restored by Parnate!

If you run out of ideas, i have plenty.

I was taking 80 mg/day of Parnate before stopping it. I went from 80-0 in two weeks. Not smart. I've done it before, though. The only negative effects in the past were profound fatigue and a worsening of depression.

I am hoping that I can take less now and still receive equal benefit. Maybe 40 mg/day.

Do you have some benefit already? Speaking in percentage, what percentage were you at on Parnate back in the days and what percentage are you at now?
100%=remission?

That's a great way to ask the question. At my best on Parnate, I reached about a 35% stable improvement. Right now, I might be 15%. Maybe 20%. It's hard to know exactly. I am better now than I was a month ago. For that, I am grateful. I suffered quite a bit. I hope that I can recover psychologically.

So even when you were volunteering for hours you were at 35%?

I think with a little luck and work you can reach a much higher percentage than that. How much percent would you say is enough for you to be able to pursue mental health with other means?

Yes. It was difficult for me to watch the people around me function so much better than me, but socialization was good.

Interesting. I don't really know. Things would be easier at 50%. Right now, I just want to take my Parnate and convalesce.

I consider myself to be at 60%. i was at 30, too, but certain things got me to where i am now. This could be a new med (for me Trazodone), a supplement or a series of supplements, a food (blueberries), activity (sports, activities that stimulate cognition), hormones (mainly testosterone and human growth hormone), psychotherapy, friends, hobbies, family. It could be many things and i guess it is somewhat different for everyone. Ok, one of these things isolated might only give you 5 or 10%, but combined they could make a hell of a difference.

At some point you just have to get moving. I would certainly get those hormone levels checked as soon as possible. For someone deficient in hormones, hormone replacement therapy can be transformational.

Give it everything you got.

Ok, right now you want to stabilize on Parnate and thats fine. You want to know how far Parnate gets you. But you shouldnt stop there.

At least now you know that Parnate is good for you. Do you plan to use an antipsychotic alongside?

We really need some moderation here. Threads are hijacked frequently and it seems like a bit of a mess to me.

You dont know where to look for what.

Does Dr Bob plan anything for that matter? Id volunteer

I have improved more - maybe 25%. The past few days have not been as good as last week. I will try not to pay too much attention to this and move forward without making changes.

Thanks for asking.
