One hallmark of depression and similar disorders is that tiny structures called neurites in the prefrontal cortex -- a critical brain region responsible for regulating fear response and reward -- shrivel up. These neurites play an important role in brain function as they span the junctions -- or synapses -- between individual neurons, enabling them to communicate with each other.
In their experiments, the scientists found that psychedelics increased both the growth of neurites and the number of connections between neurons. Some compounds, such as LSD, even proved to be more potent than ketamine in promoting neurite growth. This suggests that psychedelics have the potential to reverse some of the structural changes seen in the brains of people with mood disorders.

There are many case reports that psychedelics (now, in addition to ketamine) can help depression / ocd.
psychedelics are probably cleaner than ketamine (in terms of brain targets). I wonder if the neurogenic effect is septate from the psychedelic effect.

Microdosing LSD at sub-psychedelic levels appears to be an effective treatment for depression.

I thought it was pretty good. Attention to dose is important of course. Perhaps best to have a day of your choosing at your disposal.

Interesting.
Our brains have a natural psychedelic (tryptamine) which is released during sleep in small quantities.
Interestingly, MAO inhibition raises the levels of tryptamine.

I always wanted to try LSD and Psilocybin.

I wonder to what degree the neurotrophic effect is linked to the psychedelic effect.
For example, LSD activates many serotonin receptors like 5-ht1a and dopamine receptors like d2. 5-ht1a agonists, like buspirone are neurotrophic, but buspirone is not psychedelic.
