I am considering switching from Abilify to Saphris for bipolar depression. My main reason for doing this is to avoid the weight gain that Abilify has produced in me.
Comments?
Thanks.

Saphris was not weight neutral. Actually, I can't imagine anyone experiencing it thusly. It was dreamy--great sleep and well being, but in the end, I actually experienced a hyper hypomanic episode.

How much weight did you gain on Saphris? Weight gain is my main motivation for making a switch from Abilify to Saphris.
My doctor and I would love to have me become hypomanic. We could then put a lid on it using a mood stabilizer.

Same here. I am thinking Saphris or Rexulti!

Good luck. Did you ever ask your doc for Metformin? If you have exhausted other options, you could ask him.

I haven't had the opportunity to ask him about metformin. He's been on a speaking tour. I should be able to see him next week.

Hi Scott
An old post.
It might mean more to you than to me.

You are very eager to try things. I hope it pays off.

Hi Scott, i really did not gain weight on Saphris. It was the melty tabs and i did have to take it twice a day but honestly i think that helped as i would take one around noon time so i would have a decent appitite to eat lunch, but not over eat. i may have gained 2 or 3 lbs, but really nothing compared to zyprexa or others.
Good luck with it.
