Joe,

I'm sorry to hear that you were doing as badly as you were on the medications that you were taking. I definitely hope that you'll be right about being able to get back "on track" soon with your current regimen. Good luck with everything.

You're welcome, Joe. As far as the Ativan is concerned, I wouldn't say that taking 1 mg three times daily would scare me, but at the same time, I'd probably prefer to keep my dose as low as possible if I were taking Ativan so that when the process of discontinuing the medication arrives, it won't be quite as difficult as it might otherwise be.

How much Ativan were you taking previously? Does your doctor know about your recent medication changes?

I,ve been on benzos 16 years so probably will never stop...usually 2.5 or 2.0 Ativan,,,,,but he insists on 3 this time......klonopin makes one a little more depressed.....tells me not to keep switching because they are really similiar

Joe,

I definitely see your doctor's logic in having you take 1 mg of Ativan three times daily. From what I understand, taking 1 mg three times daily doesn't seem like an excessive dose, and there does seem to be some logic to prescribing you a little more than what you've been taking, given that you were on the verge of a meltdown, as you put it. Hopefully reducing your Ativan dose back to 2.5 mg or 2 mg daily shouldn't prove to be too difficult if you and your doctor end up going back down to a lower dose eventually. So, I'm not an expert by any means (so take what I write with a grain of salt), but I think that having you take 1 mg of Ativan three times daily for now makes sense. As much as I prefer keeping my doses of psychiatric medications low, I see the logic in your doctor's decision to have you take a little more Ativan than what you were taking previously.

Good luck. I hope the two weeks ends up being a good investment. It must be painful.

Joe

I'm surprised with your med swapping. From a Cymbata to Lexapro. Then dumping Klonipin for Ativan.

Two totally different AD's and Lexapro did take me to insanity. Ativan is a short acting benzo vs Klonipin. When I was on it I went through withdrawals every day due to it's short half-life.

I'm a doc but I went through the exact trial you experiencing. Never improved...just worse.

I no longer trial anything but MAOI's
