Seroquel XR starving...

Posted by Sheilac on January 20, 2015, at 14:36:24

My doc switched me from Geodon (just wasn't lasting long enough during the day) and put me on Seroquel XR 150mg.

It's great. Nothing bothers me, I sleep great, but I'm starving! I have sugar & carb cravings I haven't had in years.

I'm also really taking in the caffeine. Perhaps I should drop the caffeine and use my Adderall.

Is there any way to stop the crazy munchies!?

Is 150 needed? I get a good effect from low doses of Seroquel (50mg or less). Also, I find the IR better, less next day effect.

IR leaves me mean & hungry in the morning.

50mg just doesn't seem to be enough. It ok, but I can still feel a low boil under the surface. I'm better able to control my feelings at a higher dose.

My doc may bump me up to 100mg XR at night, but I still might be plagued with the sweats, muscle aches and worse, the carb & sugar binges.

I guess it's been so many years on Geodon, that I haven't had any issues with cravings & binges.

I wish they come out with a Geodon XR.

I had a friend who was on Seroquel and Adderall. Worked beautifully for her issues.

I'm really stuck. Not sure if I want to try Seroquel and HOPE that the Adderall makes the munchies go away or what.

Do you think the Adderall helps the Seroquel munchies?

I would think it would depend on dose and your individual response. Some docs Rx metformin w/ some atypicals. Maybe that's a good option?

My thinking was that seroquel xr+adderall = a good mood-elevating, anti-anxiety combination. As for the food cravings...

..I would assume that adding an amphetamine would help, but that would depend on a lot of factors. Plus, amphetamines only curb appetite for a while, so it may not be a permanent thing. Then again, the food cravings may not be permanent, either.

Good luck!

Well you could always dose it 3 times a day to see if it makes a difference.

I used to dose geodon 4-5 times a day. it has a very short half life, 6 hours I think.

I take wellbutrin with zyprexa, that seems to help. also eat a lot of veggis and high protine high fiber diet. I drink a lot of water and diet caffinated soda. exercise.

My weight has been about the same for years now.

On the other hand I can't eat with out zyprexa. soo...
