More exotic depression treatments?

Posted by Lamdage22 on November 22, 2013, at 6:18:02

Stuff like NK-1 antagonists..

Im looking for a way back to independant living.
Right now im regularly visited by suicide thoughts and im looking for a way out.

Scott made such a cool list of psyche meds. Can someone talk about the less common off label ones for treatment resistant depression?

Thanks.

H3 antagonists. Betahistine is an H3 antagonist that only crosses the brain barrier at about 96mgs, if not more. but you might be interested in reading up on this receptor.

It not actually FDA Approved, but you can still get it at a compounding pharmacy with a doctors prescription. And it is available in many other countries. But there are guidelines on babble against me describing how to obtain it from those countries. But its quite simple, considering you have the internet.

Betahistine has been studied for depression and ADHD in clinical trials. As well as many other things.

And here's some info on the H3 receptor.

I haven't tried it yet and I've only found one review of a guy who took 4 of them and he described it as giving him a stimulating feeling.
Also, it poorly crosses the blood brain barrier, which is why in clinical trials, higher doses than the normal 8 and 16mg pills are used.

NMDA antagonists seem to be working really well to treat depression.

Ketamine seems to work, but results fade fast- weekly injections needed.

Tramadol seems to be a very effective antidepressant but so many are weary of its addictive properties (I think it has none)

Memantine seems to help.

Dextromethorphan is being studied as a treatment for depression.

People have been self-medicating with Ethanol since its discovery.

Magnesium is popular with the holistic folks.

Methoxetamine is an nmda antagonist and seratonin reuptake inhibitor.

Neramexane: a memantine analogue with nootropic, antidepressant properties. Also a nicotinic acetylcholine antagonist.
