I am considering taking nefazodone. I took zoloft for years no problem but went off it and back on and had a bad reaction. Twitching all over especially my mouth, muscles weakness, Parkinson's like symptoms. I wonder if taking nefazodone would work for my extreme anxiety problem and panic attacks. I worry about the vision problems and that it effects norepinephrine. Wouldn't that make it more prone to cause anxiety? Anyone use this medication and can tell me what they think about it?

Just my personal opinion, but I would highly advise against using Nefazodone if you have co-morbid anxiety and panic attacks. The main metabolite in Nefazodone (and Trazodone) is m-CPP. This metabolite is used as a probe in animal studies to induce anxiety-like states. It actually counteracts the parent compound's antagonistic effects at the same receptors (e.g., 5-HT2a and 2c).I used Nefazodone for years in low-dose form as an antidepressant but its exacerbation of my anxiety (along with other side effects) eventually led me to discontinue it. If you do a PB archive search, you will find a lot of past users complained about similar issues with Nefazodone.

I tried it for about 3 months, no side effects but for me no relief in my depression.

than you jrbecker for the info> I looked that up and you were right:
meta-Chlorophenylpiperazine (mCPP) is a psychoactive drug of the phenylpiperazine class. It was initially developed in the late-1970s and used in scientific research before being sold as a designer drug in the mid-2000s.[1][2] It has been detected in pills touted as legal alternatives to illicit stimulants in New Zealand and pills sold as "ecstasy" in Europe and the United States.[3][4]
Despite its advertisement as a recreational substance, mCPP is actually generally considered to be an unpleasant experience and is not desired by drug users.[3] It lacks any reinforcing effects,[5] produces depressive and anxiogenic effects in rodents and humans,[6][7] and can induce panic attacks in individuals susceptible to them.[8][9][10][11] It also worsens obsessive-compulsive symptoms in people with the disorder.[12][13][14]
mCPP is known to induce headaches in humans and has been used for testing potential antimigraine medications.[15][16][17] It has potent anorectic effects and has encouraged the development of selective 5-HT2C receptor agonists for the treatment of obesity as well.[18][19][20][21]
Meta-chlorophenylpiperazine is a major metabolite of the psychotropic drugs trazodone and nefazodone, and may be responsible for some of their side-effects, such as headaches and migraines induced many hours after initial consumption.mCPP is metabolized via the CYP2D6 isoenzyme by hydroxylation to p-hydroxy-mCPP (OH-mCPP).[34] Caution should be exercised in coprescribing inhibitors or substrates of CYP2D6 with drugs such as trazodone and nefazodone that have mCPP as a metabolite.[34]
ANY OTHER SUGGESSTIONS???

Look into 3 tablespoons a day of myo-inositol. Excellent for panic and anxiety and is known to desensitize serotonin receptors and create clear pathways. Can be taken with meds no problem and tastes delicious.
