riluzole woes

Posted by g_g_g_unit on August 20, 2013, at 22:22:29

So I started Riluzole up again (after tapering off everything for a couple of weeks) and it's definitely contributing to my anxiety. I'm feeling more vigilant, agitated and having trouble sleeping. I e-mailed a professor who oversaw the two small OCD trials and he said he'd never seen anyone grow more anxious :( :(

I'm historically sensitive to medication, so am wondering if I should wait this out for a couple of weeks (it's day 3), or lower to 25mg twice a day (though I've never read of anything taking such a low dose -- standard seems to be 50mg b.i.d.).

Do they have those DNA saliva tests there? It gives results as to a normal, slow, or fast metabolizer of a med and if the levels are correct per the doseage? Phillipa

Thanks for the suggestion Phillipa. My ex-psychiatrist wanted me to get a blood test at one point, but I couldn't afford it. I imagine the DNA tests would be equally expensive?

Not sure if it's a factor at all, but I think I've noticed I feel far more irritable on days after I use doxylamine succinate for sleep. I'll try stopping it and see what happens (though that will probably mean no sleep).

Stop messing with it. Its hard to tell if you're wigging out just because yoou took something or whether it really is making you agitated

I've been on the same dose for two weeks, and only increased 3 days ago. And I don't have any trouble determining it's the Riluzole at this point.
