hi Scott-

I remember you mentioning suffering from PTSD, but it seemed a bit different than the standard definition. Would you so kindly explain? And, which meds have you found particularly helpful for it?

many thanks and I hope you're well.

Hi B.

The following article explains the sort of chronic abuse and neglect that can produce "developmental PTSD":

Prazosin 10 mg/day. Prazosin exerts a broad and persistent antidepressant effect for me. The only side effect I experience is a reduction in sex-drive.

If you decide to try prazosin, be aware that one often experiences dizziness and fatigue as startup side effects. You would probably want to initiate treatment with a single 1 mg dose taken at night followed by 1 mg two or three times a day for a week or so. My feeling is that the therapeutic range for prazosin when treating PTSD is 6 - 15 mg/day. I have settled on 10 mg/day as the lowest effective dose. Higher dosages tend to leave me feeling fatigued and unmotivated.

My current treatment regime:

Parnate 80 mg/day
nortriptyline 150 mg/day
lithum 450 mg/day
Abilify 10 mg/day
prazosin 10 mg/day
minocyline 200 mg/day

I have recently discontinued Lamictal in an attempt to reduce memory impairments and cognitive side effects. It is my guess that the addition of minocycline will allow for this.

I'm going to ask my pdoc about this. I'm also considering TMS.

I hope this attempt went well.
