I've been taking Lamictal for 7 days now. It's taken away a lot of my major depression but Im having trouble breathing a lot of the time.
I'm only on 25 mg. I don't think it's from heightened anxiety.
I like what it's doing for my depression, but the obstructed breathing is kind of concerning. It's very noticeable. And I don't want it to get worse.

Is it like there is a split second that your breathing is delayed (like your body forgot to breath), or is it that every breath takes more effort? Lung effort? Muscle? Feeling like you can't get enough oxygen?
Sorry, I don't have an answer for any scenario, but I'm just curious. I take Lamictal and have not experienced it.
I have had the experience from accidentally taking a pain reliever (after surgery), where I was sort of sedated and felt like my body would sometimes forget to breath (kinda scared me).

It's like my airway is obstructed and I can't get enough oxygen in. It usually goes on for 4 hours at a time. Kind of like slight tightening of my wind pipe. I have no chest pain.

Could it be an allergic reaction as almost sounds like some sort of asthma attack? Phillipa

1. re the breating problem, give your doc a call just to be safe
2. Try not to obsess over minor side effects or things that may/may not happen, dont google every med to death, and dont study the data sheet as if it were a map for burried treasure, otherwise power of suggestion can start playing tricks on you

I think I have an allergy to something in Lamictal because it happened almost all day. Wasn't anxious, I just had to tilt my neck back like I was a CPR dummy to get enough air in.I'm pretty good with side effects, headaches, migraines, tiredness, stifness, muscle aching, nausea etc etc. But I don't like being on this med when it's causing me so much trouble breathing. I've never had this before ever
Pharmacist told me it's probably best to stop it until I can talk to my GP.

Going to stay on Zoloft until I get rTMS treatment.
Then if rTMS works on the depression I can try Nardil at 30 mg for anxiety.

Yeah, it sounded like an asthma type thing to me, could be allergy to one of the colours etc in the pill.
I think the pharmacist was right to suggest stopping it.
This is the end of the thread.
